We consider production animals to be crucial to our
welfare - after all - they are responsible for many of our paychecks and a
large part of our food supply.
It makes intuitive sense
to develop skill in working with production animals based on
understanding and communication. Many contemporary facility designs
utilize extra heavy duty materials and are designed in a way that
creates discomfort and confusion in the animals they handle. This
creates difficulty in sending animals through these facilities. The Bud
Box utilizes the natural tendency of animals to return to where they've
come from - resulting in natural momentum that can easily be directed by
an effective handler into processing and load-out facilities.
A basic premise of Low Stress
Handling is POSITIVE interaction between caregivers and animals.
Another basic premise of Low
Stress Handling is that cattle need to see where they're going
and they need to see what's pressuring them.
The Bud Box facility designs utilize these concepts. |
